Hi guys!!

I’m trying to sign up for a new Google account specifically to manage our MDM software, but I’m completely stuck at the phone verification screen. It keeps rejecting my number or saying it can’t be used for verification. Since I can’t get past this, I can’t finish the Android Enterprise binding, and I’m essentially locked out of setting up Hexnode. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Thanks for raising this question! This is something that can come up during new account setups. Some of the ways you could try to get past this are:

  • Wait for a while before retrying: If the same number has been used multiple times in a short span, Google may temporarily block further attempts. Waiting for about 24–48 hours without trying again can often resolve this.

  • Change your internet connection: The network you’re using can sometimes trigger additional checks. If you’re on a corporate VPN or shared office Wi-Fi, switching to a personal network or a mobile hotspot may help.

  • Try a different type of phone number: VoIP numbers (such as Google Voice, Skype, or landlines) are often not accepted. A standard mobile number that hasn’t been used frequently for verifications usually works better.

  • Consider using a Google Workspace account: If your organization has its own domain, setting this up through a Workspace admin account can be more reliable, as the verification process differs slightly for business use.

Once you’re able to complete the setup, adding recovery options like a backup email and backup codes can help avoid relying solely on the phone number in the future.

Hope this helps!
