Dynamic group by cellular carrier not adding Android devicesSolved

I’m trying to create dynamic device groups for Android phones based on their cellular network carrier. I have a large number of devices, so checking each one manually is not practical.

I created a dynamic group using the SIM Carrier condition and entered the carrier name, but no phones were added to the group. Is there a better way to group devices by carrier in Hexnode?

Hello @juan_garcia ,

If the dynamic group does not populate when using the SIM Carrier condition, try creating the group with the Current carrier condition instead.

Steps:

  1. Go to Manage > Device Groups.
  2. Click New Dynamic Group.
  3. Add a condition using Current carrier network.
  4. Enter the carrier name exactly as reported by the device.
  5. Save the group and allow some time for the devices to be fetched.

The carrier value must be an exact match. If the device reports the carrier name with different capitalization, spacing, or wording, the dynamic group will not include it.

Okayy, is there a quick way to check the exact carrier name? I have a lot of devices and don’t want to open each one individually.

You can make this easier from the device list.

Go to Manage > Devices and use the column customization option near the device list filters. Enable the carrier-related column, such as Current carrier network or SIM carrier network, depending on what is available in your portal view.

This lets you quickly scan the reported carrier value for devices without opening each device record. You can then use the exact displayed value in the dynamic group criteria.
