Android kiosk policy associated successfully, but new apps are not installingSolved

I copied an existing Android multi-app kiosk policy for a few Samsung tablets, added three new apps to the kiosk layout, and associated the new policy with the devices. The Action History shows the policy association as Success, but the tablets are still not showing the new apps.

I also checked for policy conflicts and ran Scan for Apps, which completed successfully. Google Play Store is added as a background app. Am I missing another step to make the apps actually install on the tablets?

Hello @maatthew ,

For Android kiosk policies, adding an app to the kiosk layout does not automatically install the app on the device. It only defines whether the app can appear in kiosk once it is already available on the device.

To trigger automatic installation, add the apps to the policy under Android > App Management > Required Apps. After saving the policy, Hexnode will push install commands to the associated devices.

A few points to verify:

  1. Add each new app to Required Apps in the active policy.
  2. Keep Google Play Store as a background app in the kiosk policy, especially if the apps are installed from Managed Google Play.
  3. Save the policy and ensure it remains associated with the target tablets.
  4. Check the device Action History for the app installation actions, not only the Associate Policy action.
