Android 15 tablets not sending low battery alerts in HexnodeSolved

Some of our Android 15 tablets are not sending below-battery-level email notifications from Hexnode. Inactivity/non-compliance alerts are coming through, so notifications are working in general.

An Alert Profile is already configured for device battery level, and email notification is enabled for technicians. The battery threshold is set quite high for testing, but only some tablets seem to trigger the alert. What else should I check?

Hi @ronnie,

Welcome to the Hexnode Community.

For low battery notifications, verify these three items in the Alert Profile:

  1. The alert condition is configured for Device Battery Level.
  2. Notify via email is enabled under the Actions section.
  3. The affected devices or device groups are added under the Targets section.

If the devices are not included as targets, the alert will not trigger for them even if their battery level falls below the configured threshold. Also note that low battery alerts depend on the battery level reported during device check-in. Hexnode triggers the alert only when the device checks in with a battery percentage below the configured threshold.

Can the same alert be sent by SMS too? I see SMS settings, but I’m not sure whether I can just use a normal mobile carrier number.

Hi @ronnie,

SMS alerts require an SMS gateway configuration in Hexnode.

Go to Admin > SMS Settings and configure one of the supported third-party SMS gateway providers, such as Twilio, Plivo, Vonage/Nexmo, or BulkSMS. You need to create an account directly with the SMS provider and enter the credentials they provide, such as account identifiers, authentication tokens, or API keys.

Standard cellular carrier networks cannot be used directly for Hexnode SMS notifications. Hexnode requires a programmatic cloud SMS gateway to send automated system alerts.

After adding the SMS gateway details, enable the selected vendor from the SMS Settings page using Action > Enable. SMS charges are handled by the third-party gateway provider and are typically billed per message.
