Bulk remove devices from a custom device group in HexnodeSolved

I have a custom device group in Hexnode with more than 600 devices. I need to remove all of them from that group, but I can’t find an option in the portal to select and remove devices in bulk. Is there a way to clear a custom device group without removing each device one by one?

Hello there, thanks for raising this.

Bulk removal of multiple devices from a custom device group is currently not available directly from the Hexnode UEM portal.

For this use case, use the Hexnode API for device group management. The API supports adding or removing devices from a device group, which is the recommended approach when you need to update a large number of devices at once.

General approach:

  1. Identify the custom device group from which the devices need to be removed.
  2. Prepare the list of devices to remove using the identifiers supported by the API.
  3. Use the Hexnode API endpoint for adding/removing devices from device groups.
  4. Submit the removal request with the device list.
  5. Verify the group membership after the API request is completed.

Hexnode API reference: https://www.hexnode.com/mobile-device-management/developers/device-groups/add-remove-devices/

This removes the devices only from the custom group. It does not disenroll or delete the devices from Hexnode UEM.

If a bulk removal option is added to the Hexnode UEM portal in the future, we will update this thread.

Hello @porter ,

We are glad to inform you that bulk removal is now available directly in the Hexnode UEM portal.

Here is how you can remove multiple devices from the static device groups:

  1. Navigate to Manage > Groups > Device Groups > All Groups and click on your static device group.
  2. Under the Devices tab, click the master checkbox at the top left of the list to select all devices at once.
  3. Click the Remove button that appears at the top of the list to clear the selected devices from the group.
