Show a pop-up message at macOS user login after Hexnode enrollmentSolved

We enroll Macs by sending users an enrollment link over email. After enrollment, we want a pop-up message to appear when the user logs in, reminding them to create an Apple ID with their official email address.

Is there a way to trigger this automatically from Hexnode? I found the Broadcast Message option, but I’m not sure if that works for first login after enrollment or if I need to use a macOS script policy.

Hi @roger,

Hexnode cannot directly trigger Apple’s native Apple Account creation prompt on macOS. However, you can display your own custom prompt using one of these approaches:

Option 1: Deploy a macOS script with the User Logon trigger

Use this if you want the message to appear automatically when the user logs in.

  1. Create a macOS script that displays the required message to the user.
  2. On the Hexnode portal, go to Policies > macOS > Configurations > Scripts.
  3. Add the script to the policy.
  4. Set the script configuration “Execute scripts on” to User log on.
  5. Associate the policy with the required Mac devices, users, or device group.

If the prompt must appear only once, the script itself should include logic to prevent the message from being shown repeatedly. The User Logon trigger runs the script when the user logs in, so the once-only behavior needs to be handled inside the script.

Option 2: Use Broadcast Message

Use this if you want to send the message manually on demand.

  1. On the Hexnode UEM console, go to Manage > Devices.
  2. Select the target Mac, and click Actions.
  3. Choose Others > Broadcast Message.
  4. Enter the prompt and send it.

This is useful for quick reminders, but it is not an automatic first-login workflow.
