Can Hexnode set iPad Camera to JPEG instead of HEIC through policy?Solved

We manage a group of iPads with Hexnode policies and noticed that photos taken with the Camera app are being saved as HEIC files. Is there a way to change the iPad camera setting through policy so it uses “Most Compatible” and saves photos as JPEG instead?

Thankyou for raising that question.

Apple’s MDM framework currently does not provide a policy key to configure the default Camera capture format on iPhone or iPad.

For iOS and iPadOS restrictions, Apple exposes camera access control through the allowCamera restriction in the com.apple.applicationaccess payload. This can be used to allow or block the Camera app, but Apple does not expose a supported MDM restriction or configuration key to switch the Camera format between HEIF/HEIC and JPEG.

Because Hexnode relies on Apple’s native device management framework for iOS and iPadOS policy enforcement, this setting cannot be changed remotely through a Hexnode policy at this time.
