I’m trying to remotely reboot an Android 7 device from Hexnode, but I can’t find any restart or reboot option under the device actions. Is remote restart supported for Android devices, or does it depend on how the device is enrolled?

Hi @josiah,

Remote restart is supported for Android devices running 7.0 or above only when the device is enrolled in Device Owner mode through Android Enterprise.

To check whether the action is available:

1. Go to Manage.
2. Select the Android device.
3. Open Actions.
4. Search for Restart Device.

If the device is enrolled as a generic Android device, the Restart action will not appear in the action list. Device Owner enrollment provides deeper device-level management permissions, which are required for actions like remote restart. If remote reboot is needed for regular fleet management, re-enrolling the affected devices as Device Owner is the recommended approach.

Keep in mind that changing the enrollment type usually requires removing the existing enrollment and enrolling the device again using the Device Owner method.
