Android devices non-compliant because required app install stays InitiatedSolved

This can happen when the app assigned as a required app is not compatible with the target Android device type.

In this case, both apps mentioned point to compatibility issues:

• YouTube for Android TV is intended for Android TV devices and is not compatible with standard Android mobile phones.
• Hexnode MDM LG Service is meant for supported legacy LG Android devices. It is not required for Samsung or other non-LG Android devices.

When an incompatible app is added as a required app, the device may remain non-compliant because the app cannot actually be installed, even if the app action was initiated successfully.

Recommended fix:

1. Remove YouTube for Android TV from the Required app policy assigned to standard Android phones.
2. Add the regular mobile YouTube app from managed Google Play instead.
3. Remove Hexnode MDM LG Service from policies assigned to non-LG devices.
4. Save the policy changes and sync the devices.
5. Run Scan for Apps if needed to refresh the application inventory.

Once the required app list contains only compatible apps, the devices should be able to install them and return to a compliant state.

When would the Hexnode MDM LG Service app actually be needed? Should it be added as a required app for all Android devices just in case?

Hexnode MDM LG Service should not be added to all Android devices by default.

It is used for legacy LG Android devices where additional LG Mobile Device Management API support is required. The app helps activate certain advanced MDM restrictions available through LG-specific management APIs.

For Samsung, Android Enterprise, Android TV, or standard Android phone deployments that are not LG legacy devices, this app should not be included as a required app. Assigning it to unsupported devices can keep the device non-compliant because the required app cannot be installed correctly.
