Can Hexnode recover the last known device location after 90 days offline?Solved

I’m trying to find the last known location of a managed device that has not checked in for more than 90 days. The location tracking policy was already assigned to the device, but the console no longer shows any location history.

From what I understand, Hexnode removes location data after 90 days. Does that also mean there is no way to retrieve even the last known location for that device?

Yes @ed_evans, the 90-day retention limit applies to the location data points themselves.

If a device has not checked in for more than 90 days, every location coordinate previously reported by that device would also be older than 90 days. As a result, those location logs are automatically and permanently purged according to Hexnode’s data retention policy.

Once the retention period has passed, there is no last known location fallback available in the Hexnode console, and the purged location history cannot be restored.

So even if the location policy was active before the device went offline, the old location points are still deleted after 90 days?

Correct @ed_evans. The retention period is based on the age of each location data point, not just whether the location policy is currently active.

The policy being assigned only allows Hexnode to collect location data while the device is able to report it. It does not preserve location records beyond the configured retention period. For devices that remain offline beyond 90 days, the previously collected location history will no longer be available.
