Hello,
Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.
The 30-day password reset window for local Hexnode portal accounts is a built-in security requirement and cannot be modified, extended, or disabled from within the portal. Hexnode enforces this periodic password rotation specifically for local technician accounts to reduce the risk of stale or compromised credentials. This timer is hardcoded and is not configurable through policies, technician role settings, or portal preferences.
If your team wants to avoid this local-account password rotation and utilize your own password expiration rules, the recommended approach is to configure Single Sign-On (SSO).
By setting up SSO, your technicians will authenticate using your organization’s Identity Provider (IdP), such as Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, or Okta. When using this setup:
- Password lifetime and rotation windows are governed entirely by your IdP.
- The Hexnode local account 30-day timer is bypassed.
- You can enforce your own internal access controls, including custom password expiry intervals and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
Until SSO is configured, the local accounts will continue to prompt for a password reset every 30 days.
I hope this helps. If you find any more issues or need further assistance feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
George,
