Cannot uninstall pre-installed YouTube app from Android device in HexnodeSolved

I’m managing Android phones with Hexnode and want to remove YouTube from one of the devices. I checked the policy, but I only see apps that were added through Hexnode. I also checked the device’s Applications tab, but for YouTube I only get an option like Clear data, not Uninstall App. When I use the uninstall application action, YouTube does not appear in the search results either. Is there a way to delete pre-installed apps like YouTube from Android devices?

Hello @laura123 ,

In Hexnode UEM, apps can be uninstalled from Android devices only when they are managed apps, such as apps deployed through Hexnode UEM or apps that are available for removal through the device management framework.

You can normally remove managed apps in either of these ways:

  1. Go to Manage > Devices.
  2. Open the required Android device.
  3. Go to the Applications sub-tab.
  4. Select the gear icon next to the app.
  5. Choose Uninstall App, if available.

Alternatively:

  1. Go to Manage > Devices.
  2. Select the device.
  3. Click Actions > Applications > Uninstall application.
  4. Search for and select the app to uninstall.

If the app was deployed through a policy, you can also remove the policy. Make sure the Remove apps from the device on policy removal option is enabled; otherwise, removing the policy will not uninstall the app from the device.

However, pre-installed Android system apps, such as YouTube on some devices, may not be removable through Hexnode UEM. If the app only shows Clear data and does not appear under Uninstall application, it usually indicates that the app is a system/default app and cannot be completely uninstalled using the standard UEM actions.
