Hey everyone. I have a quick question. I want users to be able to use the Google Play Store normally on their Android devices so they can download any apps they want. However, the user mentioned that the Play Store appears to be running only within the work profile.

How can we allow full Play Store access on the device?

Thank you for sharing the details.

Based on the behavior described, the device appears to be enrolled as an Android Enterprise Device Owner device, which means it is operating as a fully managed device.

On fully managed Android devices, the Play Store is associated with the managed Google account by default. Because of this, users will initially only see the work-managed account inside the Play Store, and they can install only the applications that have been approved and distributed through Hexnode.

If you would like users to access the Play Store more freely and download apps outside the managed app list, the user can add a personal Google account alongside the managed account on the device.

To do this:

  • Open the Play Store.

  • Tap on the existing work account profile icon.

  • Add a personal Google account to the device.

Once the personal account is added, users will be able to switch accounts within the Play Store and access applications available through their personal account as well.

Before doing this, make sure the following restriction settings are enabled in the Hexnode policy:

  • Allow Account Settings

  • Modify Accounts/Users

These settings will allow users to add and manage additional accounts on the device.
