Hey everyone, I’m under a huge time crunch here. We just got 50 new android tablets for the warehouse floor. I started setting them up, but the device setup screen is demanding I sign in or create a new Google account for every single device just to access the Play store and download the Hexnode app.

I do NOT want to create and manage 50 different fake Gmail accounts just to get these enrolled. There has to be a way to skip this and just enroll the tablets directly into Hexnode without needing a user google account on the device.

Hey @ryker,

Take a breath, you definitely do not need to create 50 Gmail accounts!

The issue is that you’re going through the standard consumer device setup. Since these are company-owned warehouse devices, you should be enrolling them using Android Enterprise (Device owner mode).

When you link your portal to Android enterprise, Hexnode automatically generates invisible “Managed Google Play” accounts in the background for every tablet you enroll. The user never sees a login screen, you don’t have to manage any passwords, and you can push all your required warehouse apps silently from the hexnode console.

To bypass that consumer google sign-in screen, the tablets must be completely factory reset. From there, you can either tap the “Welcome” screen 6 times to open a hidden QR scanner to scan your portal’s enrollment code, or you can proceed to the Google login screen and type afw#hexnodemdm instead of an email address. Either method forces the tablet into enterprise mode and downloads Hexnode immediately.

Rather than typing out every single step here, Hexnode has a straightforward guide on exactly how to set this up. Just check out their doc here: https://www.hexnode.com/mobile-device-management/help/enroll-android-enterprise-without-google-account/

I highly recommend using the 6-tap QR code method mentioned in the doc. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll have all 50 tablets knocked out in no time!
