Hello everyone,

I’m currently evaluating an MDM/Kiosk solution for an existing signage deployment and wanted to see if anyone has worked on something similar.

Here’s the setup:

  • Devices: Sony Google TV + Android AOSP

  • Enrollment: APK-based (devices are already deployed, so everything needs to be done remotely via TeamViewer)

  • Kiosk App: connectsignage (primary app)

  • Background App: TeamViewer must always run

  • Watchdog: Both apps should always stay active

  • Security: Strict restriction against any physical access or tampering

We’re also using vendor-specific tools like Sony RDM and Dynascan TCC for display-level controls. On top of that, we need a web-based management interface with support for multiple customers (separate groups/policies).

Has anyone implemented something like this? Can Hexnode handle all of these requirements?

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Also, you might not need to stick with TeamViewer long-termHexnode already has remote access features. Might be worth testing that and seeing if it covers your use case.

Yeah, this looks like something Hexnode should be able to handle. I’ve seen similar kiosk setups where one app stays in the foreground and another runs in the background without issues. Yours sounds pretty close to that.

Hey all!

@maatthew, this is a solid signage use case, and yes, it’s something we can support.

Here’s how your requirements map with Hexnode:

  • Kiosk & App Management: You can configure this using Single App Kiosk / Multi-App Kiosk, and allow TeamViewer alongside connectSignage using Background App support.

  • Watchdog / App Persistence: With Multi-App Kiosk and the Kiosk Launcher, only the selected apps are available, and the device always stays within the kiosk environment, even after a reboot.

  • Security Controls: You can lock the device down using Kiosk Lockdown, along with Exit Kiosk Password, System Restrictions, and Peripheral Settings to prevent any physical access or tampering.

  • Remote Capabilities: As a Sony partner, we also offer built-in Remote View and Remote Control, so you can rely on that instead of using TeamViewer separately.

So overall, your requirements align well with what we offer.

That makes sense, thanks for breaking it down. What license would be needed for this setup?

For this combination of kiosk, and remote access, the Ultimate plan would be the best fit.
