Big news for device managers!

Patch Management is now supported on tvOS and visionOS, allowing administrators to manage OS updates and security patches with greater control and consistency.

The new Patches and Updates policy is introduced for these platforms, helping ensure devices stay updated without relying on manual intervention.

With Declarative Device Management (DDM), supported devices now get updates more reliably, helping your fleet stay secure, up to date, and running optimally.

What’s Included?

The policy is structured into two sections:

Patch Preferences

  • Define how update notifications appear on devices.
  • Control automatic download of OS updates.
  • Control automatic installation of OS updates and security updates.

Patch Deferral Settings

  • Delay the availability of OS updates for up to 90 days.
  • Choose which update versions are shown to users when multiple updates are available.

iOS: Patch Management, Reorganized

The existing Software Update Preferences policy in iOS has been reorganized into the Patches and Updates policy. No new configuration options have been added—existing capabilities remain the same, now presented in a more organized format.

What’s changed?

  • Update settings are now grouped into Patch Preferences and Patch Deferral Settings.
  • Option names are standardized across platforms for consistency.
