Migration issue on macOSSolved

Hi, I tried using Migration Assistant on my Mac to move data to a new device, but I kept running into device unlocking issues during the process. It’s like the MDM restrictions are still in place.

Both Macs are on the latest macOS version, and I even removed all policies from the source device in Hexnode, but the issue still persisted. Has anyone faced this before?

This might be related to the user context on the device. On macOS, certain actions depend on which user is logged in. If the enrolled user and the current user don’t match, some changes don’t fully apply.

Hi @elliot,

@penelope is on the right track here.

The failure of the removal of device policies might be due to a user profile disassociation issue. To resolve this, ensure that an admin user with the required privileges is logged in to the device so the disassociation process can complete.

Once that step is completed successfully, any remaining management-related restrictions are cleared, which allows processes like Migration Assistant to function without interruption.

Got it. I switched to an admin account and retried, and that finally worked.
