Automating daily restartsSolved

Guys, I need to manually restart my phone every single day just to get it to connect to my Pebble watch. At this point, restarting has become part of my morning routine…coffee, emails, and reboot.

Is there any way to automate this using Hexnode? My sanity would appreciate it.

Hi @skylar-a,

You can absolutely automate the restart instead of doing it manually every day.

  1. Restart Device (Remote Action): You can trigger the Restart Device action from the Manage tab whenever required. This is great for one-off fixes.
  2. Automate Tab: If the restart needs to occur daily, head over to the Automate tab and configure an automation. You can schedule a restart at a fixed time (e.g., 3 AM daily), set it based on specific triggers, and also apply it to a single device or a group (if multiple devices behave similarly).

This way, the device reboots quietly in the background, and your Pebble syncs without any manual effort on your end.

Jumping in here because this issue feels similar to mine.

We have a field device that randomly stops receiving calls, everything goes straight to voicemail. Guess what fixes it? Restart. Every. Single. Time.

I’ve been manually triggering the restart action whenever the field worker reports the issue.

Hi @sybylla,

For field devices, especially ones that are business-critical, relying on manual intervention isn’t scalable.

A more feasible solution would be to:

  • Schedule a daily off-hours restart (e.g., early morning before shift starts).
  • Apply the scheduled restart through the Automate tab to the relevant device group assigned to field workers.

For more information, please refer to the help documentation on Automate tab.
