Hi team, I’m facing an issue with one of my Apple devices. The device seems to be syncing, and I can see that the device’s last check-in was about 7minutes ago, but when I try to assign a device or push a configuration, it keeps failing and says that the configuration couldn’t be downloaded. 
I’m not sure what’s going wrong here. Could you please help?

Could you please confirm a few details for us

  • Is this device enrolled via Apple Business Manager (ABM) using Automated Device Enrollment (ADE)?
  • If yes, have you recently checked whether the ADE token associated with ABM account is still valid?

Yes, the device is enrolled through Apple Business Manager (ABM) using ADE. I’m not sure about the ADE token status, I don’t think it’s been renewed recently.

Thanks for confirming! If the ADE token has expired, Apple devices may continue to report check-in, but configuration downloads will fail. If that is the case, please follow the steps given below to renew the ADE token:

Step 1: Renew the MDM server token in Apple Business Manager (ABM).

  1. Sign in to Apple Business Manager.
  2. Navigate to Preferences > Device Management Services.
  3. Select the MDM server associated with Hexnode.
  4. Click Download Token and save the .p7m file.

Step 2: Upload the downloaded ADE Token in Hexnode.

  1. Log in to the Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Go to Admin > Apple Business Manager > Automated Device Enrollment.
  3. Click on the existing ADE account.
  4. Upload the downloaded ADE server token.
  5. Save the changes.

That makes sense now.

I’ve renewed the token in Apple Business Manager and uploaded it to Hexnode portal as you instructed.

Once the ADE token is active, you should be able to assign the device and push configurations without any issues.
