Guys I’m stuck. I accidentally pushed a lockdown policy to devices that were not supposed to get it.

Normally, under the device summary page (policies sub-section), I can remove it using the delete icon next to the policy. But for this one, there’s no delete icon at all… and I’m honestly panicking.

Hey, don’t worry. I’ve seen this happen in hexnode.

Usually, the delete option disappears when the policy is getting applied through a dynamic device group.

Since the group membership keeps changing based on conditions, Hexnode won’t let you remove it directly from the device page.

In that case, you’ll need to remove or change the policy association from the dynamic group instead.

Yeah… that makes sense

I’m fairly new to this and I was tinkering with the dynamic device group rules. There were a lot of conditions already, and I think I messed it up without realizing.

I removed the policy from the target device group now and it reverted back, so at least the immediate issue is solved.

But what I originally wanted was to push the lockdown policy only to devices that are inactive.

That’s actually straightforward. You don’t have to touch anything else.

Just set the condition like:

Choose Condition filters → Compliance info → Device status → Is → Inactive

That should target only inactive devices and apply the lockdown policy only to them.

That’s exactly what I needed. Thanks a lot.

We’re rolling out MDM across the company now, so I’m still getting comfortable with Hexnode. This really helped.
