To answer your question directly: Hexnode does not feature a dedicated “pause” button for policies on individual device pages, so managing temporary disassociation depends on how your policy targets and device-user assignments are structured.

Regarding your question about removing the user target—yes, if you remove a user from the policy targets (Policies > Policy Targets > Users), the policy will stop applying to all devices assigned to that user.

Depending on your setup, here is how you can cleanly handle this:

Scenario 1: The user owns multiple devices (Exclude only one device)

If the user has multiple devices and you only want to stop the policy on one of them, reassign the user on that specific device:

1. Go to Manage > Devices and select the target device.
2. Change the associated user to a different user (or unassign the user).
3. The user-targeted policy will automatically disassociate from that specific device while remaining active on the user’s other devices.
4. When you are ready to re-enforce the policy, simply reassign the original user back to the device.

Scenario 2: The user only owns that single device

If the user only has that one device assigned to them, removing the user target is the quickest method:

1. Open the policy in Hexnode and go to Policy Targets > Users.
2. Remove the user from the list and save the policy.
3. Once you are ready to resume policy enforcement, simply edit the policy target and add the user back.
