How to update existing contacts without losing manually saved contacts on android phonesSolved

Hey, I’m using hexnode UEM and whenever I go to update existing contacts on android phones I usually need to delete the contacts first before importing them. Now the problem I’m running into is that some users will have manually saved contacts on their phone that end up getting deleted due to this. How can I update the contacts on the android phones while also ensure that any manually saved contacts are preserved. We have a lot of androids and I would like a possible solution that won’t involve me needing to go into every single phone manually and downloading the contacts just to change the couple lines in the CarAV file. I also don’t want to try and setup a entra ID for this either.

cheers

Hi @jphillips,

Great question! You can use the Import contacts to device remote action to import contacts to devices without removing any manually saved contacts. Just ensure that the option Delete existing contacts is left unchecked when performing the remote action. This way, the existing contacts on the devices will remain intact while the updated contacts are pushed.

The action can also be applied to multiple devices or device groups, so you won’t need to configure each phone individually.

Hope this helps! Please reach out if you run into any issues while setting this up.

Best regards,
