Windows open enrollment assigns multiple devices to the same default userSolved

I’m enrolling Windows devices using open enrollment. I set a default user and send the enrollment email, but if I start enrolling another employee before the first enrollment is fully completed, the devices seem to get assigned to the same default user.

This makes it tedious because I have to wait for each person to finish enrolling before starting the next one, or manually change the user afterward. Is this expected behavior with Windows Open enrollment?

Our users are managed in Google workspace. Would Authenticated enrollment be a better option so each device attaches to the person enrolling it without me having to change the default user every time?

Hi @rose-wilson,

Yes, this is exactly the expected behavior for Windows Open Enrollment. Because Open Enrollment does not require the end user to authenticate, Hexnode maps every device enrolled through that configuration to the currently selected Default User at the time of enrollment.

For your scenario with Google Workspace users, Authenticated Enrollment is definitely the recommended approach! During Authenticated Enrollment, the user signs in with their credentials, and Hexnode automatically maps the device to that specific user. This completely eliminates the need to pause between enrollments or manually reassign the default user each time.

For any devices that have already enrolled under the wrong default user, you can manually correct them by going to Manage > Devices, selecting the device, and using the Actions > Edit > Change Owner command.

Please let me know if you need any assistance setting up the Authenticated Enrollment workflow!
