What happens when iOS devices are disenrolled from Hexnode?Solved

We’re moving some managed iPhones out of our Hexnode portal and need to understand the impact before removing them. If we disenroll an iPhone from Hexnode, what happens on the device itself? Will the end user see anything? Also, some apps were pushed through Apple VPP as required apps in kiosk mode. Are those apps removed from the phones too?

When an iPhone is disenrolled from Hexnode, the MDM profile is removed from the device. As a result, configurations and items managed through Hexnode are also removed.

This commonly includes:

  • Hexnode MDM profile
  • Policies and restrictions pushed through Hexnode
  • Managed Wi-Fi configurations
  • Managed email accounts
  • Managed apps deployed through Hexnode
  • Kiosk-related configurations

The end user may see an iOS system notification indicating that the management profile has been removed. After disenrollment, the iPhone functions as a standard unmanaged device.

If the devices are supervised through Apple Business or Apple School, also unassign them from the MDM server in Apple Business. Otherwise, if the device is erased or reset later, it may automatically enroll back into the same Hexnode portal during setup.
