I have a supervised iPhone that shows a message like “This iPhone is supervised and managed by <organization>.” I tried searching for the device in Hexnode using the serial number and IMEI, but it does not appear in the portal. Is there a way to confirm whether this device is managed by Hexnode, or could it be enrolled in a different MDM?

If a supervised iOS device is enrolled in your Hexnode portal, it should appear under Manage > Devices when searched using its serial number. You can also search using the IMEI if the device reports it to the portal.

To verify where the device is managed from the iPhone itself:

1. Open Settings on the iPhone.

2. Go to General > VPN & Device Management.

3. Check the installed management profile and the organization name shown there.

If the device does not appear in Hexnode and the management profile shows a different organization, the device is not enrolled in your Hexnode portal. In that case, Hexnode cannot unlock, manage, or remove restrictions from that device. You would need to check the other MDM system or contact the organization that manages the device.

I checked VPN & Device Management and it shows another organization name, not Hexnode. Searching the serial number in Hexnode still returns nothing. So that means it is definitely not managed from my Hexnode portal, right?

Yes. If the device is not listed in the Hexnode portal and the iOS management profile points to another organization, it is managed elsewhere.

For a supervised iPhone to be managed through Hexnode, it must be enrolled into the correct Hexnode portal. If the device is assigned to another MDM or organization, it will need to be released or reassigned by the current managing organization before it can be enrolled into Hexnode.
