Set up Android managed web app shortcuts in Hexnode multi-app kioskSolved

I’m setting up Android tablets in Hexnode and need a few web apps to appear as shortcut icons on the device home screen while the tablets are in multi-app kiosk mode.

The devices are enrolled as Android Enterprise Device Owner. I created the web apps as managed Google apps with the URL and title, but I wasn’t sure about the exact policy flow after that. Do they just need to be added as required apps, or do they also need to be included somewhere in the kiosk configuration for the icons to show up?

Hi @yasmin_farooq,

For Android Enterprise devices, managed web apps can be deployed to tablets and shown in kiosk mode when all required parts of the configuration are in place.

Use the following flow:

1. Create the web app under Managed Google Apps.
– Add the required URL.
– Set the display title.
– Choose the preferred display mode, such as full screen, if the web app should open without the browser interface.

2. Confirm that the target Android devices are enrolled in Device Owner mode.
– This is required for full Android Enterprise policy deployment and kiosk management.

3. Add the web apps to the Android policy.
– Go to the app configuration section of the Android policy.
– Add the web apps under Select Apps.
– Mark them as Required Apps so they are installed or made available on the device.

4. Add the same web apps to the Multi-App Kiosk policy.
– Configure Android Multi-App Kiosk.
– Include the managed web apps in the allowed kiosk apps list.

Adding the web apps as required apps handles deployment, but adding them to the Multi-App Kiosk configuration is what makes them available as kiosk-accessible shortcuts on the tablet screen.
