Self Service App portal on HexnodeSolved

Quick question for the group, is there a way to set up a self-service app portal on Hexnode?

I’ve got devices out in the field, and I don’t want to just deploy every single app to every single person. I’d rather give them a list of “suggested” apps they can pick from when they actually need them, instead of them just downloading whatever they find on the store. Any ideas?

I’ve been thinking about doing the same. Kiosk mode is a bit much for our team, and it’d be nice to give them some choice without opening things up completely.

Hi @harold, and @raelynn,

What you’re describing is exactly the intended use case for the Hexnode App Catalog. It functions as a customized, private app store that allows users to install approved enterprise, store, or VPP apps directly from the Hexnode app on their devices.

To set this up, you will need to:

  1. Create the App Catalog: Go to the Apps tab, select App Catalogs, and click +New. Here you can group specific apps or app groups together.
  2. Deploy via Policy: Navigate to Policies, create or edit a policy, and under the App Management section, select App Catalog to attach the one you created.
  3. Target your Devices: Associate the policy with your field users or device groups.

This prevents users from running unapproved apps while ensuring they have immediate access to the tools they need. For more information, check out the help documentation on Hexnode App Catalog.

Let us know if you need help with the configuration!

We do this! It’s a lifesaver for our warehouse guys. It saves so much time because I don’t have to keep track of who needs what for which job site. I just put everything in one spot and let them handle it.
