Save button disabled when setting fixed IP address on iPadSolved

I’m trying to set a fixed IP address on an iPad that has our Wi-Fi policy applied. After entering the IP details, the Save button stays disabled/blocked, so I can’t apply the change.

The Subnet mask field already appears to have a value in it and looks like it is preset, so I didn’t think I needed to type anything there. I also removed and re-added the network settings, but the Save button still did not become active.

Is there a required field I might be missing when configuring a fixed IP address for iPad?

Hello @thomas_m ,

When configuring a manual IP address directly on an iPad, the Save button will remain disabled if any required network field is technically empty, even if it appears to display a default value.

In the native iOS network settings, the Subnet Mask field often displays grayed-out placeholder text (such as 255.255.0.0). While it looks like a preset value, iOS does not recognize it as actual input until it is manually typed.

To resolve this on the device:

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi on the iPad and tap the info icon next to the network.

  2. Tap Configure IP and ensure it is set to Manual.

  3. Verify that the IP Address and Router fields are filled out.

  4. Tap the Subnet Mask field and manually type the required subnet mask, overriding the placeholder text.

Once the Subnet Mask value is actively typed into the field, the Save button in the top corner will become clickable.
