macOS disenrollment stuck after factory resetting a MacBookSolved

I factory reset a MacBook Pro before disenrolling it from Hexnode. After that, both the factory reset/wipe action and the Disenroll Device action look like they are stuck in the portal. The Mac is no longer checking in. Is there a way to complete the disenrollment or clear this device from Hexnode?

When a Mac is manually wiped or factory reset before the Hexnode disenrollment action is processed, the MDM profile and Hexnode agent may be removed from the device. These components are required for the device to receive and execute remote actions from the Hexnode portal.

If the device is no longer checking in after the reset, pending actions such as Disenroll Device or Wipe Device will not complete because the Mac can no longer communicate with Hexnode.

To remove the stale device record from the portal, use: Actions > Mark as Inactive.

This will remove the device from the active device list. For future cases, it is recommended to initiate the Disenroll Device action while the Mac is online and checking in, or use the wipe action from Hexnode and wait for it to complete before taking any manual reset steps.

That explains it. I did the manual reset first, so the Mac probably removed the management profile before the portal action could run. Marking it inactive cleared it from the active list for me.
