iPad Remote Session grayed out or view-only in HexnodeSolved

I’m trying to start a remote session with an iPad from Hexnode, but the Start Session button was grayed out at first. Remote sessions are enabled in the portal, and the Hexnode UEM app on the iPad has the required permissions. The agent app also seems to be on the latest version. This is happening on more than one iPad. After a while, I was able to start a session, but I still couldn’t click or interact with anything on the iPad screen from the portal. Is that expected behavior for iOS devices, or am I missing a setting?

For iPad and other iOS/iPadOS devices, Hexnode supports Remote View, but not Remote Control.

This means you can start a remote session and view the device screen, but you cannot remotely tap, click, type, or control the iPad. This is due to Apple’s platform-level security restrictions and is not caused by a Hexnode policy misconfiguration or missing app permission.

If the Start Session button appears grayed out, it is still worth checking the basic Remote View requirements:

– Remote session settings are enabled in Hexnode.

– The Hexnode UEM app is installed and up to date on the iPad.

– Required app permissions are allowed on the device.

– The device is online and able to communicate with Hexnode.

– A Scan Device action may help refresh the latest device status before retrying Remote View.

However, even after the session starts successfully, iOS/iPadOS sessions will remain view-only. Full remote interaction is available only on supported platforms that allow remote control.
