iPad app deployment shows "device is not compatible" during installationSolved

I added an iPad app to the Hexnode app library and assigned it to iPads through a policy as a required app. The app was not getting installed on the devices. In the action history, the install app action showed that the device was not compatible, even though the app is meant for iPad. Has anyone seen this with iOS app deployments?

This can happen when the standard app compatibility check prevents the installation during deployment. To proceed, try bypassing the compatibility check for the app:

  1. Go to the Apps tab in the Hexnode portal.
  2. Search for and open the affected app.
  3. Enable the option Bypass app compatibility check.
  4. Save the changes.
  5. Retry the app installation or reapply the policy to the iPad.

Once this option is enabled, Hexnode will not block the deployment based on the compatibility check result, and the app should install if it is actually supported by the device and OS.

That fixed it for me. After enabling Bypass app compatibility check from the app settings, the app installed on the iPads successfully.

Good to know. I’ve seen this with some iPad apps too, where the app is technically compatible but the deployment check still flags it. The bypass option is useful as long as you’re sure the app supports the target device and iOS version.
