If the Hexnode remote wipe command is not being accepted by the iPad, you can wipe the device manually depending on whether you can access it. If the iPad is unlocked and you have physical access:
- Open Settings.
- Go to General.
- Select Transfer or Reset iPad.
- Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
- Complete the prompts to erase the device.
If the iPad is passcode-locked or the Settings app is inaccessible, restore it using Recovery Mode:
- Connect the iPad to a Mac or PC.
- Put the iPad into Recovery Mode. The button combination varies depending on the iPad model.
- Use Finder on macOS or iTunes on Windows to restore the device.
- You can also use Apple Configurator on a Mac to restore the iPad.
Since the device is assigned through Apple Business Manager, erasing it will only reset it to factory settings. During Setup Assistant, the iPad should still prompt for remote management and download the MDM profile assigned through ABM, as long as it remains assigned to the correct MDM server.
