How to audit custom scripts, remote access, and location tracking in HexnodeSolved

Hi everyone. I’m trying to find out which admin or technician executed custom scripts from the Hexnode console. Is there a way to filter the audit logs specifically for custom script execution instead of going through all activities manually?

While checking this, I also wanted to confirm a few other features for our internal documentation:

  • Can files on a Windows device be accessed directly from the Hexnode console without starting a remote view/control session?
  • For Windows remote access, does the user always need to confirm the remote session, or can it be unattended?
  • Does Hexnode support live terminal for Windows, macOS, and Linux?
  • If location tracking is enabled on a laptop, will it show the exact GPS location?
  • Lastly, is there a single Hexnode document that lists every privacy-sensitive capability by platform?

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

Here are the answers to your queries regarding auditing, remote features, and device tracking:

  • Auditing Custom Scripts: You can audit this by going to Reports > Audit > Audit History. Search for the activity name “Execute Custom Script” and adjust the “Created Time” filter (e.g., set it to “All”) to see which console user triggered the action and when.
  • Windows File Access: Direct file browsing on Windows devices from the console is not available as a general feature. Viewing or interacting with files on a Windows endpoint requires a remote access or control workflow.
  • Windows Remote Access: Hexnode does support unattended remote access for Windows devices. When properly configured, administrators can initiate remote access without requiring end-user confirmation each time.
  • Live Terminal Support: Live terminal is available for supported Linux devices and macOS (where prerequisites are met). However, it is not available for Windows devices.
  • Location Tracking: Hexnode can report the current device location as long as location services are enabled on the device and a location tracking policy is assigned. The exact accuracy depends on the device platform, available location sources, and its ability to provide GPS data at the time of reporting.
  • Privacy Documentation: There is no single dedicated document that lists every privacy-sensitive capability by platform. For privacy reviews, we recommend evaluating specific areas such as remote access permissions, location tracking policies, script execution permissions, and technician role privileges.

I hope this helps or resolves your issue. Feel free to reach out if you have any more doubts or need further assistance.

Best regards,
George,
