I need to add a web clip/web app to Android devices managed in Hexnode. I remember that the normal web app option did not work for Android earlier and there was another way to do it through Google Play, but I can’t find the old instructions anymore. What is the current process for creating and deploying Android web apps?

For Android devices, you can create and deploy web apps through Managed Google Play from the Hexnode app inventory.

Steps:

1. Go to Apps in the Hexnode portal.

2. Click + Add Apps and choose Managed Google Apps.

3. From the left-side menu, select Web Apps.

4. Click the + icon to create a new web app.

5. Enter the required web app details, such as the app name, URL, icon, and display settings.

6. Click Create.

After creation, the web app may show as Not available yet while it is being published through Managed Google Play. This can take a few minutes.

Once publishing is complete:

1. Open the web app from Managed Google Play.

2. Select it to add it to the Hexnode app inventory.

3. Deploy it to Android devices using either:

   – Install Application remote action, or

   – Required Apps policy.

The standard Apps > + Add Apps > Web App method is also supported now, but using Managed Google Play is a reliable approach for Android Enterprise deployments.
