How can I track browser data usage and view user activity logs on Hexnode-enrolled Android devices?Solved

We have multiple company-owned Android devices enrolled in Hexnode. I downloaded the shared logs package for a user, but opening the .txt file in a text editor shows only weird symbols and scrambled characters — I cannot read anything.

My primary goal is to monitor what users are browsing on the Hexnode Browser and Samsung Browser, specifically to track data consumption per app. We need this data as proof to bill users who are exceeding their mobile data plan due to heavy browser usage.

Is there a way to view the user logs, check browser history, or get a report on app-level data usage through Hexnode?

Thanks for reaching out! Let me address each part of your query.

The .txt files inside the downloaded log package are encrypted and compressed by Hexnode for security, as they contain sensitive device information. These files are strictly internal diagnostics intended for Hexnode’s engineering team to troubleshoot app performance — they cannot be decrypted or read by admins or end users.

About the query regarding viewing browser historyUnfortunately Hexnode Browser is designed as a secure sandbox to restrict users to approved websites, but it does not log or expose the specific URLs visited. Additionally, Hexnode does not collect browsing history from native device browsers such as Samsung Browser, due to platform privacy restrictions.

For your billing use case, the recommended solution is to deploy the Network Data Usage Management policy on your enrolled devices. This allows you to monitor and track data consumed per app, including browsers, across all enrolled devices. You can also visit the Reports tab in your Hexnode portal for a broader overview of device-level activity and usage.
