Hello @margaret ,
A disabled Restart device action on Android usually means the device does not currently have the required management permissions for Hexnode to trigger a system-level reboot.
Remote restart for Android is supported when the device is enrolled with one of the following management configurations:
- Android Enterprise Device Owner mode, such as Fully Managed, Dedicated, or Corporate-Owned deployment.
- Samsung Knox-enabled management on supported Samsung devices with the required Knox administrative privileges.
If the device is enrolled as Profile Owner / Work Profile, or only with basic Device Admin permissions without Knox privileges, Android OS restrictions can prevent MDM apps from restarting the device remotely. In such cases, Hexnode UEM disables the Restart device action because the command cannot be executed reliably.
To verify this, open Hexnode and go to Manage > Devices > select the device. Check the Enrollment Type and Ownership details in the device summary. If the device is in kiosk mode, also review the applied kiosk policy and confirm that power or reboot options are not restricted by the kiosk configuration.
Regards,
Simon Scott
