Android Profile Owner: Should Hexnode For Work permissions be set to Allow?Solved

I’m managing Android Enterprise devices in Profile Owner mode and reviewing the Android > App Permissions section in a policy.
For the Hexnode For Work app, should required permissions be explicitly set to Allow, or is Default enough? I’m mainly asking about Access location in background. If it is left as Default, does Android treat that as ON or OFF?
I also noticed that one working device’s policy does not show Hexnode For Work in the App Permissions list at all, even though the app is installed and functioning. Other policies do show it. Does that mean the app is just running with Android defaults?

In Android Enterprise Profile Owner mode, it is recommended to explicitly set required Hexnode For Work permissions to Allow if you want consistent behavior.

For Access location in background, Default does not mean automatically allowed. Android treats background location as a sensitive runtime permission, and it is OFF by default unless the user grants it or the app receives it through a managed permission rule.

So, if continuous location tracking is required, set Access location in background to Allow for Hexnode For Work in the Android App Permissions policy. This avoids relying on end-user approval or Android permission prompts.

However, Profile Owner management has an important limitation: Hexnode can manage permissions inside the work profile, but it cannot force-enable the device-wide Location/GPS toggle if the user turns it off in personal device settings. The main Location setting on the Android device must remain enabled for coordinates to be fetched.
