Android Enterprise QR enrollment fails with “device limit is reached” on Samsung tabletsSolved

I’m trying to enroll a couple of Samsung Android tablets using the Android Enterprise QR code from the Enrollment tab. At first, the tablets showed “Couldn’t set up your device. For help, contact your IT admin.” After trying again, I got “device limit is reached.”

One of these tablets had been disenrolled earlier and I’m trying to enroll it again. Does disenrolling automatically free up the license, or is there another step needed before I can add it back?

Hi @harold,

For Android Enterprise Device Owner enrollment, the QR code under the Android Enterprise section of the Enrollment tab is the correct one to use.

The “device limit is reached” message usually means all available Hexnode device licenses are currently occupied. Disenrolling a device does not always immediately free the license if the device remains in the Disenrollment Pending list.

To free up the license slot:

  1. On the Hexnode UEM portal, go to Reports > Devices.
  2. Open Disenrollment Pending Devices.
  3. Select the inactive or previously disenrolled device.
  4. From Actions, choose Mark as Disenrolled.
  5. Confirm the action if prompted.

Once the old device is marked as disenrolled, the license count should update. After that, try scanning the Android Enterprise QR code again on the Samsung tablet.
