Can Hexnode UEM be used to remotely access managed Google Enterprise Chromebooks? I’m trying to understand whether admins can start a remote session from Hexnode and what the Chromebook user needs to do on their end.

Yes @shirleyc . Hexnode UEM supports remote access for managed ChromeOS devices through Google Remote Desktop.

To start a remote session:

  1. Go to Manage > Devices in the Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Select the enrolled Chromebook.
  3. On the Device Summary page, find the Remote Access section.
  4. Click Start Session.
  5. You will be redirected to Google Remote Desktop.
  6. Sign in using a managed Google account from the same domain used on the target ChromeOS device.
  7. A screen-sharing permission prompt appears on the Chromebook.
  8. The Chromebook user must click Share.
  9. Once permission is granted, the remote access session starts.

The session cannot begin until the user accepts the screen-sharing prompt on the device.

So this isn’t fully unattended remote control, right? Someone has to be at the Chromebook and approve the sharing prompt?

Yes @shirleyc , for ChromeOS remote access through Google Remote Desktop, user consent is required on the Chromebook. The admin can initiate the session from Hexnode UEM, but the device user must allow screen sharing by selecting Share on the prompt.

Also make sure the admin signs in to Google Remote Desktop with a managed Google account that belongs to the same domain as the account used on the Chromebook. If the account domain does not match, the remote session may not start as expected.
