I was trying to enroll a Mac in Hexnode and completed the Okta verification step, but the enrollment did not continue. Instead, I got a message saying: “Google session timed out. Complete the authentication to enroll the device.” This happened during the initial setup/enrollment flow. Has anyone seen this with macOS enrollment using Okta authentication?

This message usually appears when the browser authentication session used during enrollment expires or becomes stale before the macOS enrollment flow is completed.

For macOS enrollment with an identity provider such as Okta, try restarting the enrollment flow from a fresh session:

  1. Close the current enrollment browser tab or window.
  2. Open a new private/incognito browser window, or use a different browser.
  3. Start enrollment again using the latest enrollment URL provided by your organization.
  4. Complete the Okta/Google authentication without switching away from the flow for too long.

If the device was already partway through setup, the enrollment state may need to be reset by the IT admin before retrying. Once the setup/enrollment process is reset, the Mac should be able to start the authentication and enrollment flow again cleanly.
