Android enrollment says credentials incorrect for Hexnode local userSolved

I created a local user in Hexnode to test Android deployment without directory sync. The user is listed under local users and I set a password for it, but Android enrollment fails with a “credentials incorrect” error.

The enrollment profile is for Android Enterprise. What should I verify in bulk before trying enrollment again?

Hi @benwhite ,

For Android Enterprise enrollment with a locally created Hexnode user, check the following items:

  1. Go to Enroll > Android Enterprise and open the enrollment profile being used.
  2. Under User Authentication, confirm that authentication is enabled for the enrollment flow you are using.
  3. Go to Manage > Users and enable the Local Users filter on the right side.
  4. Search for the local user and confirm that the user is listed there.
  5. During enrollment, enter the user’s email address, not just the username.
  6. If the error continues, reset the local user password from Manage > Users > select the user > Actions > Change Password.
  7. Retry Android enrollment with the email address and the newly set password.

In many cases, the “credentials incorrect” message appears when the username is entered instead of the local user’s email address, or when the saved password needs to be reset from the portal.
