Devices missing in Hexnode portal for custom role userSolved

Some devices are not showing up in my Hexnode portal view, but other admins in the organization can see them. I thought I had admin access, so I’m not sure why my device list is different. Could this be related to my role or group access.

Hi @harold,

This usually happens when the user is assigned a custom role with restricted device group access instead of full administrator permissions.

In Hexnode, device visibility for a custom role depends on the device groups included in that role’s scope. If your role is limited to specific groups, you will only see devices that belong to those groups. Other admins may be able to see more devices because they either have full admin permissions or broader group access.

Ask your organization’s Super Admin to check:

  1. The custom role assigned to your account.
  2. The device groups included in the role scope.
  3. Whether the missing device belongs to a group that is outside your assigned scope.

Once your account is given access to the relevant device group, the device should appear in your portal view.

So does that mean the user needs full admin access, or is it enough to add them to the group where the missing device is located?

Hi @harold,

Full admin access is not required if the user only needs visibility and management access for devices in a specific group.

The Super Admin can simply update the custom role scope so that it includes the device group containing the missing device. After that group is included in the user’s assigned scope, the device will be visible to them in Hexnode.

Full admin permissions are only necessary if the user needs unrestricted access across all devices, groups, and administrative settings in the portal.
