New Active Directory Users Not Appearing Immediately During Device Enrollment.Solved

Hi,

We are using Active Directory integration with Hexnode for automated device provisioning.

Our provisioning workflow creates new AD accounts and then enrolls the corresponding devices into Hexnode. The complete process is expected to take around 2–3 minutes for completion.

However, we noticed that the Sync Now option under Active Directory has a 30-minute cooldown. Because of this, newly created AD users may not immediately appear in Hexnode, which can delay the enrollment process.

Is there any way to reduce the AD sync interval to 60–120 seconds?

Hi @eleanor_a,

Thanks for reaching out.

The 30-minute interval applies to regular Active Directory synchronization, which includes the Sync Now operation. However, newly created AD users do not have to wait for the next regular synchronization to enroll their devices.

When Self Enrollment is enabled for the Active Directory domain, a user who is not yet available under Manage > Users can start enrollment using the enrollment URL provided by the administrator and provide their Active Directory credentials. During the enrollment process, Hexnode UEM retrieves the user’s information from Active Directory and continues the enrollment.

So, the enrollment flow is:

Create user in Active Directory → User starts device enrollment → User enters AD credentials → Hexnode UEM retrieves the user → Enrollment continues.

Therefore, the newly created AD user can proceed with device enrollment without waiting for the next regular directory synchronization or for the account to first appear under Manage > Users.

This should resolve your concern regarding the delay during device enrollment. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Ryan Carter
