I’m setting up Android Enterprise devices in Device Owner / Work Managed mode and want the enrollment to be as seamless as possible. Hexnode recommends disabling battery optimization for the Hexnode app, but I don’t want our team to enroll devices and then manually go into Android settings afterward to turn it off. I found the Disable Battery Optimization option in the Enrollment Profile, but I’m not sure what the “Do Not Prompt” option actually does. Does it only hide the prompt, or does it automatically disable battery optimization during enrollment?

For Android devices enrolled as Device Owner / Android Enterprise Work Managed, battery optimization for the Hexnode app can be handled during enrollment through the Enrollment Profile. Configure it as follows:
- Go to the Android Enrollment Profile used for Device Owner enrollment.
- Locate the Disable Battery Optimization setting.
- Select Do Not Prompt.
- Save the Enrollment Profile and use it for new enrollments.
In this context, Do Not Prompt does not simply suppress the message while still requiring manual action. It silently exempts the Hexnode app from battery optimization during enrollment, so users or technicians do not need to open Android settings afterward to disable it manually.

That wording threw me off too. I assumed “Do Not Prompt” meant the device would skip the prompt but leave optimization enabled. So this only applies while enrolling new Device Owner devices, right?

Yes. The setting is applied as part of enrollment for Android Enterprise Device Owner / Work Managed devices. It is intended for devices being enrolled with that Enrollment Profile. After enrollment, you can verify the behavior from the device’s battery optimization settings. The Hexnode app should already be excluded from optimization, without any manual change on the device.
