Android kiosk web app still shows lock screen after rebootSolved

I have an Android tablet enrolled as a device owner and running a single web app in kiosk mode. The web app opens, but the tablet still shows the Android lock screen before getting back to the kiosk app, especially after a reboot or when the device is locked. I want the device to go straight to the web app kiosk without showing the normal lock screen.

Hello @annemie ,

To keep an Android device directly in the web app kiosk and prevent the standard lock screen from interrupting the kiosk flow, enable the advanced kiosk lockdown options in the Android kiosk policy.

Steps:

  1. Go to Policies and edit the kiosk policy applied to the device.
  2. Navigate to Android Kiosk Lockdown > Peripheral Settings > Advanced Lock
  3. Enable the following options:
    • Lock task mode
    • Global actions
    • Activate Lock task mode on reboot while the device is locked.
  4. Save the policy and make sure it is associated with the Android device.

After the policy is applied successfully, the device should resume directly into the web app kiosk instead of stopping at the normal lock screen.

Okaay got it. Also, I have an older/duplicate device record in the Hexnode portal. I tried using Disenroll Device, but the device record still seems to be there and shows a disenrollment state. What settings should I check?

For the duplicate or old device record:

  1. If the device is still communicating with Hexnode UEM, use Actions > Device Control > Disenroll device.
  2. If the device is not communicating, the action may remain as Disenrollment Initiated. In that case, select the device from Manage > Devices, click Actions, and choose Mark as Disenrolled.

Mark as Disenrolled is useful when the device cannot receive the live disenrollment command but you still need to clear the device state in the portal.
