I’m a super admin and I’m trying to change the 2FA method used for Hexnode portal login for a technician,  but I couldn’t figure out how to change the 2FA from email. I initially looked for SMS, but I’d prefer using a third-party authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. Where is this configured?

Hello @rob_mitch ,

For Hexnode UEM portal login 2FA, the configuration depends on the method you want to use.

If you want to use SMS-based 2FA, an SMS server must first be configured from: Admin > SMS Settings.

Without this SMS server configuration, SMS will not be available as a 2FA delivery method for technician login.

If you want to use a third-party authenticator app instead, you will need to configure it through the technician’s assigned profile:

  1. Go to Admin > Technicians and Roles.

  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the required technician and select View Technician.

  3. Scroll down to the Assign Profile section to see their currently assigned profile.

  4. Next, navigate to the Profile tab (located next to the Technicians tab).

  5. Click on the assigned profile and select Edit (or create a new profile if you do not want to apply these changes to other technicians sharing the same profile).

  6. Within the profile settings, navigate to the Sign-in & Security tab.

  7. Under the Two Factor Authentication section, ensure Enable Hexnode-managed 2FA is enabled.

  8. Enable Ask this user to set up Third Party Authenticator.

  9. Save the profile configuration.

  10. On the next portal login, the technician will be prompted to set up the authenticator app.
