Fire Tablet kiosk mode not showing Amazon Photos or video shortcutSolved

I’m setting up an Amazon Fire tablet in Hexnode multi-app kiosk mode. The kiosk policy is applied and the dashboard shows kiosk as enabled, but the tablet only shows the kiosk background and none of the icons I added. The apps I’m trying to show are Amazon Photos and a shortcut to an MP4 video uploaded through Hexnode Content. Amazon Photos is installed on the tablet and is included in the app allowlist. I also tried targeting the policy to both the user and the device, but there was no change. After running Scan for Apps, the device shows as out of compliance with a message saying some blocklisted apps are present and one or more required apps have not installed. Amazon Photos does not appear to be blocklisted, so I’m not sure why the kiosk screen is still blank. Is there anything specific to Fire tablets that I should check?

Fire tablets can require a slightly different troubleshooting approach because Fire OS does not support every Android kiosk/content shortcut behavior.
For the Amazon Photos app, check the following first:
1. Confirm the device is properly enrolled and communicating with Hexnode.
2. Make sure the kiosk policy is targeted directly to the device or to a user group that the device is correctly associated with.
3. In the multi-app kiosk policy, add Amazon Photos to the app allowlist or kiosk app list.
4. Run Actions > Scan for Apps from the device page and review the compliance status.
5. If the app is installed but still not appearing, check whether the device enrollment state is incomplete or inconsistent. In that case, a factory reset followed by a fresh enrollment can resolve missing kiosk app behavior.
For the video shortcut, there is an important Fire OS limitation: standalone content shortcuts created from files uploaded to Hexnode Content are not supported on Fire OS devices in kiosk mode. The video file may download to the device, but the shortcut itself may not appear or launch from the kiosk screen.
Recommended workarounds are:
– Host the video in a web application or web page and add it as a Web App in the kiosk policy.
– Store the video locally and allow a compatible file manager or media player app in kiosk mode to open it.
