Hi everyone. A managed MacBook user forgot their macOS login password. I went to Manage > Devices > Local Accounts in the Hexnode portal, but the “Change Password” option is greyed out and not clickable. We also cannot use a dscl password reset command because we do not have a usable admin password on the Mac to run it.
Is there another remote action in Hexnode to force-reset the Mac password, or do we need to recover it directly through Apple?

If the Change Password option is not clickable, the most common reason is that the Local Accounts management feature is not included in your current subscription tier.
Because this feature is unavailable to you and there are no known admin credentials to run local command-line methods (like dscl), there is no alternate Hexnode remote action that can bypass or override the forgotten macOS login password.
In this scenario, you must use Apple’s official macOS account recovery workflows to regain access. Depending on how the Mac is configured, this can be done through an Apple ID, a FileVault recovery key, or macOS Recovery. Once the password is reset through Apple’s process, the Mac will continue to be managed by Hexnode as long as it successfully checks in.
