Is there a compliance rule in Hexnode that can notify admins if a required app is installed but has not been used for a while? I’m trying to monitor app inactivity, not just whether the app exists on the device. Ideally, if users stop opening the app, an admin notification should be triggered.

Hexnode does not currently include a native compliance rule that marks a device non-compliant based on app inactivity or daily app usage. In other words, Hexnode cannot automatically trigger an admin notification only because a user has not opened or actively used an installed app.
The closest available workflow is to combine app presence enforcement with usage auditing:
1. Use Mandatory App Compliance for app presence
– Go to Policies > App Management > Mandatory Apps.
– Add the required app to the policy.
– Associate the policy with the target devices.
If the app is removed or missing from the device, the device can be flagged as non-compliant.
2. Enable admin notifications for compliance changes
– Go to Admin > Notifications.
– Under Notify the administrators on, enable Device out of compliance.
This sends an alert when a device becomes non-compliant, such as when a mandatory app is missing.
3. Review actual app usage manually
– Go to Manage > Devices.
– Open the device details page.
– Navigate to Usage Insights > App Usage.
This section shows the time spent in individual apps, which can help audit whether the app is being used.
So, Mandatory Apps can notify you if the app is not installed, while App Usage Insights can help you review usage. However, automatic compliance notifications based only on app inactivity are not supported at the moment.
