iPad screenshots not working in Hexnode even with Screen Capture allowedSolved

An iPad enrolled in Hexnode is not taking screenshots with the Power + Volume button shortcut. Nothing happens when I press the buttons.

The device is under an iOS policy for managed iPads. There is no kiosk policy applied. A blocklist policy is enabled, but Photos, Camera, and Files are not included in the blocklist. I also checked the Basic Restrictions settings, and Screen Capture and Allow Remote Screen Observation are enabled.

Photos, Files, and Camera are enabled in the policy, but they are still not showing up on the device. What else could prevent screenshots on iPadOS?

Hi @cameron,

For iOS and iPadOS devices, check whether another configuration profile is applying a more restrictive setting to the same device.

Even if Screen Capture is enabled in one Hexnode policy, iOS follows the most restrictive rule across all installed management profiles. This means screenshots can still be blocked if another associated policy or profile disables screen capture or restricts the required system apps.

Recommended checks:

Open the device in Hexnode and review all policies associated with it.
Check whether any policy has Screen Capture disabled under iOS Basic Restrictions.
Confirm that the device is not in kiosk mode or an allowlist-only setup that hides Photos, Files, or Camera.
Verify that the blocklist does not include those apps.
If you recently edited the policy, confirm that the policy was saved successfully and that the device has synced after the change.

If the policy edit is not actually being saved, the iPad will continue using the previous restriction state.

That was it. There was an Android setting enabled in the policy by mistake, and it was causing the policy save to fail. After disabling that setting, the policy saved properly and screenshots started working on the iPad.
